Paddock scale trials with Laconik

InterGrain is partnering with agricultural technology company Laconik to deliver paddock scale variety trials that link breeding research with commercial grain production. 

Breeding plots and national variety trials are an essential part of variety development and provide early performance data across a wide range of environments. However, results generated at plot scale do not always reflect how a variety will perform across an entire paddock where soil variability, seasonal conditions and management practices play a major role. 

The partnership with Laconik allows InterGrain to support trials conducted at a commercial scale using growers’ own machinery and normal farming operations. These trials are designed in collaboration with growers to generate reliable data that complements existing plot and NVT results and provides additional confidence at the paddock level. Through the program, growers can compare InterGrain varieties alongside familiar benchmark varieties to assess yield, stability and consistency across variable paddocks.

By combining breeding expertise with paddock scale data and digital analysis, InterGrain and Laconik are strengthening the connection between research outcomes and on farm decision making.
