New APH Wheat Variety IG-Bullseye on target for yield performance
InterGrain has announced the release of IG-Bullseye, a new Australian Premium Hard (APH) wheat variety combining strong yield performance, robust disease resistance and grain quality for southern New South Wales growers.
Developed for medium to high rainfall environments, IG-Bullseye offers growers a mid-slow maturity option that is well suited to early sowing opportunities, helping maximise seasonal conditions while maintaining access to premium grain markets.
Trialled as IGW5573, the variety has demonstrated strong performance across InterGrain’s breeding and evaluation program, delivering a balance of productivity, adaptability and disease resistance.
InterGrain Senior Wheat Breeder, Dr David (DT) Tabah, said IG-Bullseye was developed to address the key traits growers are seeking in modern wheat varieties.
“IG-Bullseye brings together strong yield performance, an excellent disease resistance package and APH classification, making it a compelling option for growers looking to maximise returns,” DT said.
The variety offers strong resistance to stripe rust, yellow spot and cereal cyst nematode, together with useful resistance to stem rust. Combined with good lodging tolerance, low screenings and strong test weight performance, IG-Bullseyeprovides a well-rounded package for growers targeting both productivity and grain quality.
Southern NSW InterGrain Territory Manager David Leah said the variety had continued to impress throughout 2026.
“Results from both independent National Variety Trials and InterGrain’s own trial network look encouraging, and growers visiting trial sites this season have shown strong interest in the variety,” David said.
The release of IG-Bullseye continues InterGrain’s long history of developing wheat varieties that are adapted to Australian farming systems and capable of delivering both agronomic performance and market value.
Growers will have the opportunity to view IG-Bullseye at field days and demonstration sites across southern NSW, with commercial seed availability planned for the 2027 season.
