ICT, Data & Digital Capability Manager

This role is intended to provide both operational leadership and practical capability uplift across ICT, enterprise systems, data governance and digital transformation. It is not expected to be a purely technical data engineering role; however, it should provide sufficient data governance, information management and digital capability leadership to ensure InterGrain can mature its approach to data, systems, cyber resilience and technology-enabled research outcomes.

The ICT, Data & Digital Capability Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across ICT infrastructure, enterprise systems, data governance, information management, cyber security and digital transformation initiatives, ensuring technology and data assets support a modern, secure and scalable research and breeding environment.

Working closely with research, breeding, laboratory and operational teams, the role bridges the gap between scientific workflows, operational requirements, information governance and technology solutions to improve efficiency, enterprise data capability and business resilience.

The position is responsible for supporting the ongoing optimisation of InterGrain’s Microsoft ecosystem and digital collaboration platforms, while also leading the development of practical data governance, information management and digital capability foundations that support research, breeding, commercial and corporate outcomes.

Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and maintain an enterprise data and digital capability roadmap aligned to InterGrain’s strategic objectives, research priorities and technology investment plans.

• Support delivery and ongoing implementation of InterGrain’s ICT, data and digital capability roadmap.

• Provide operational ICT, information management and data governance insights and implementation recommendations to leadership, aligned with strategic direction.

• Assist in aligning operational technology activities, investment sequencing and delivery priorities with agreed business, research and breeding objectives.

• Provide leadership and guidance regarding enterprise information management, data governance, digital innovation and emerging technology opportunities.

Infrastructure & Operations

• Oversee day-to-day ICT infrastructure, cloud platforms, networking and end-user services in alignment with InterGrain’s approved technology direction and operational requirements.

• Manage managed service providers and vendor relationships to support agreed service delivery outcomes and roadmap priorities.

• Coordinate lifecycle management activities for ICT hardware, software and operational technology assets.

• Support operational continuity across geographically distributed, research and seasonal business activities.

• Support the implementation, administration and optimisation of enterprise platforms including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Power Platform, Salesforce and related business systems.

Data & Digital Capability

• Lead the development and ongoing maturity of InterGrain’s data governance framework, including data ownership, stewardship, quality standards, retention requirements and information lifecycle management.

• Support the implementation and optimisation of breeding, laboratory, research and analytical platforms to ensure effective integration, accessibility and utilisation of data.

• Assist teams to better leverage approved data, reporting, analytics and digital capability solutions to support operational and research outcomes.

• Contribute to implementation of automation, analytics, artificial intelligence and high-performance computing initiatives aligned with business priorities.

• Act as the organisational subject matter expert for enterprise information management and the data lifecycle, including data creation, storage, integration, retention, archival and disposal.

• Contribute operational insights and recommendations to support future digital capability uplift opportunities.

Information Governance & Data Stewardship

• Establish and maintain enterprise information governance frameworks, policies and standards.

• Define data ownership, stewardship responsibilities and accountability across key business, research and breeding domains.

• Support governance of research, breeding, laboratory and commercial data assets, including appropriate access, classification, retention and protection requirements.

• Provide advice regarding information ownership, access rights and data governance obligations associated with research collaborations, technology partnerships, external service arrangements and data sharing activities.

• Communicate data governance and information management requirements in clear, practical language for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Cyber Security & Risk

• Assist in improving security governance, identity management, access controls and operational risk mitigation practices.

• Coordinate backup, disaster recovery and business continuity activities to support organisational resilience and operational continuity.

• Support implementation and maintenance of appropriate security controls to protect research, breeding, commercial and corporate information assets.

• Ensure appropriate information governance frameworks, classification standards, access controls and data protection practices are maintained across enterprise systems and information assets.

• Work collaboratively with leadership, managed service providers and advisory stakeholders to strengthen cyber maturity and operational assurance capability.

• Experience leading or supporting ICT operations and technology uplift initiatives within operational or complex business environments.

• Strong understanding of infrastructure, cloud platforms, cyber security and enterprise technology operations.

• Experience managing ICT vendors, managed service providers and operational support arrangements.

• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing or supporting data governance and information management frameworks.

• Knowledge of privacy, security, access control and data protection requirements applicable to research, commercial and corporate information assets.

• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and operational coordination skills.

• Ability to translate business, research and operational requirements into practical technology and data capability outcomes aligned with organisational priorities.

• Experience working within the Microsoft technology ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Entra ID and Power Platform.

• Experience supporting operational delivery of digital transformation, systems implementation or technology uplift initiatives.

• Experience within agriculture, research, breeding, laboratory or scientific environments is desirable.

• Exposure to agricultural analytical tools, breeding systems, genomics platforms, laboratory systems, analytics, artificial intelligence or high-performance computing environments is desirable.

• Experience operating within environments involving geographically distributed or seasonal operational activities is desirable.
