Undergoing Malt Accreditation
Banks is a high yielding, long season barley with an optimum sowing time from 25th April through to 15th of May. Performance across a variety of environments has demonstrated excellent yield stability. Banks is particularly suitable for medium to high rainfall environments, and has superior net form, net blotch resistance compared to RGT Planet, as well as good powdery mildew resistance.
Banks has low straw volume making it suitable for no-till farming systems,  and exhibits good straw strength, low levels of lodging and good head retention.
The physical grain properties of Banks are, on average, superior to RGT Planet for grain plumpness, hectolitre weight and brightness.
If accredited Banks has the potential to be a premium export malt variety  with high diastatic power and high malt extract percentage.
